It's a gramophone disc - usually 12 inches, 10 inches or 7 inches in diameter - used in mastering studios for quality control and test recordings before proceeding with the final master.
These dubplates will often be either unreleased recordings (which may or may not end up being made available to the general public) or exclusive versions or remixes of existing recordings. They are often used as a market research tool (for dj's and producers) to assess the probable sales of a tune once its released, as they are far cheaper to produce than a pressed vinyl.

Vinyl dubplates are a recently-developed format which allow extremely durable recordings to be made (lasting 90% as long as pressed vinyl) and are more suited to cases where no release is imminent, or the release date is a long time away.

We provide one-off vinyl plates. This means we put your music on a unique vinyl record. You are then the only person on earth who can play this record in your DJ-set, jukebox...

Our dubplates are made of real vinyl. This means you can play them as often as you like. Our vinyl plates don't start to sound 'bad' or 'scratchy' as acetate records do after being played several times.

The difference between our records and an acetate/laquer/dubplate is that an acetate is an aluminium disc with a thin layer of soft laquer where the music is cut into, using a sapphire. The playback stylus damages the laquer and the quality goes down with each play, you can’t scratch with acetates at all.

We are using a diamond to cut directly into a harder material, therefore our dubs last like normal vinyls and scratching is no problem. Our plates are scratchproof and sound as good as a regular gramophone record.

Our machine is designed to do stereo cutting, not only mono cutting as most dubplatecutters do.
Ofcourse mono cutting is also possible.
